Illustration, fiction and interaction.
Illustrating the song “Pandora’s Box” by Chris Jordan I wanted to show movement and small actions but still keep the illustrations on paper. A practical approach of trial-and-error with small rough paper-engineered mock-ups helped me figure out how to put the pages and elements together.
I created the specific moment where Pandora opens the box and looks inside by carefully timing the mechanisms of her head, the lid on the box and her eyes moving.
In the forest spread I wanted to create the same feeling that a giant red button gives us – a sense of curiosity and danger.
The final illustrations were drawn on paper and painted in Photoshop, then printed out, cut and fitted together.
